Susan Deutsch Berkowitz

Susan Berkowitz was born in the Bronx NY on May 2nd 1941. She graduated from Hunter High School and Hunter College with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology.

Susan began her career as an elementary school teacher, a second career working as an officer at Citibank and ended her work career at the job she loved the most, running a day treatment program for mentally ill adults.

Susan was an active member of the Jewish community, particularly the Chabad of Cary. She was also very active with Republican woman’s activities.

Susan will always be remembered for her sense of humor, eternal optimism and love for not only her family but anyone who was lucky enough to cross paths with her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Morton Berkowitz, her son Steven of Brooklyn NY, her daughter Jill and son in law Andrew Scoular of New Milford CT, and their children, Ben, Emily, Daniel, Zachary, Abigail, Rebecca and Harry.

A funeral service for Susan will be held 12:00 PM on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 Southeast Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511. Burial will follow at Raleigh Hebrew Cemetery.
