Shirley Butler Hutchings

Born in Baltimore, MD she was a daughter of the late Robert and Mary Butler. She graduated high school in Anchorage, AL and attended Wells College in Aurora NY. Shirley got married to John at Walter Reed in Bethesda, MD and was married for 68 years. She was an artist specializing in landscapes and seascapes using oil as her medium. Shirley was a prolific cook, a talented seamstress and an avid gardener.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Thaller; and a brother, Robert Butler Jr.

Survivors include her husband, John Hutchings; daughters, Lucy Mondo and her husband, James of Durham, Jennifer Gregg and her husband, David of Lake Lure, NC; grandchildren, Vicki Tompson and her husband, Gray, Andrew Mondo and his wife, Diana, Jessi Thaller-Moran and her husband, Paul, Daniel Thaller, Cammie Thaller, Dylan Wills, Leah Wills, Nicole Few, Dakota Few; 5 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Glenn Thaller and his wife, Lisa; and a sister, Lucy Painter and her husband, Jon.
