Renee, Dr. and Mrs. Powell.  I only just found out about Scott. I am very much in shock. Although we hadn't seen each other in years, I always considered him a close friend and someone I admired.

   Rony and I are shocked at your heartbreaking loss.  It seems only recently that Scott was that active shock of red hair exploring our deck while you looked for a home in the Birmingham area.  Our prayers are with you and yours to find comfort at this time.

I have just learned of Scott's passing.  I am so sorry.  As director and founder of The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center I have had the pleasure of knowing Scott for many years.  His exuberance for life and his outgoing personality made friends of all who met him.  Over the years he has been a great supporter not only of sea turtles but of the ocean and all of its life.  He always made the effort to come to every sea turtle release as well as raising funds for our project.  Our sea turtle release in June will be dedicated to his memory and he will have a permanent place on our memorial wall, Oceans of Memories, in our new facility.  He will be greatly missed!  On behalf of our volunteers, our deepest condolences to the family.

My precious family, I am deeply sorry for your loss.  It is so unfair for Scott to have been taken from you guys this early.  I do not have children of my own so I cannot begin to understand that loss.  However, I am a daughter, a sister, and a wife and cannot imagine losing my father, my brother, or my husband.  They are three of my very best friends.  You all are in my thoughts and prayers.  I don't know what else to say except remember to breathe and know you are loved and on my mind.

I was so shocked and saddened by the news of Scott's passing.  I was friends with Scott in high school.  He was truly one of the nicest guys I've ever met.  He was so friendly and positive.  I enjoyed our friendship in high school and am sorry we fell out of touch with our different life directions.  My prayers go out to Scott's wife, children, parents and other loved ones. We have never met but my heart is breaking for you. I saw Scott's obituary on Ellen Moricones FB page this morning. I too lost my husband suddenly a little over 2 yrs ago and think about him every day. It looks like you have  an amazing community around you . Let them help even when you feel like you don't want it. May God hold you in his arms especially today and give you peace and strength . Praying for you and your kids today .

At this time words don't seem to be enough. May the many friends be there to comfort you and the boys. This world has lost a good man. May the dive shop remain as a memorial to Scott. He and your family made a difference in the world. God speed Scott and to the family may God comfort you in your loss.

A little more than two years ago my son and I began our scuba training through Down Under, so I've known Scott for only a short while.  But in that time, he was a good friend, a great resource as I sought dive locales, a wealth of information about gear, technique, and other facets of scuba, and great fun to joke around with.  I'm stunned at this news and can only say to his family how truly sorry I am for his passing.  My prayers and sympathy to his wife and children.  I hope great memories will help carry you through the coming time of grieving.  I will join many others in feeling a void and knowing I will miss Scott.

Scott was such a friendly and caring person.  He was always smiling and willing to lend a hand.  He will be missed dearly around Swift Creek Shopping Center where we developed a friendship over the last 14 years or so.

Renee, My heart reaches out to you and your family. Although I didn't get the chance to meet Scott, I know he was a wonderful husband and father and he will be truly missed by many. Scott's dedication to the diving community - through teaching, retail, social functions, travel, environment, research - was unprecedented...and he always did it with the most sincere smile. A rarity and a treasure indeed. He was definitely one of the 'good ones' and will be sorely missed by all of us. My sincere condolences and thoughts go to Scott's family and close friends.

I met Scott recently at a birthday party, where he gave an introductory scuba lesson to a group of 10 year old boys.  His joy and enthusiasm for scuba diving really influenced my boys, who came away from the experience with plans to take more lessons.
