Sarah Louise (nee: Reddick) Daniels, 76, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 18, 2011 in Cary, NC. Sarah was born on March 8, 1935 in Alamo, TN to the late Albert and Fannie (nee: Robertson) Reddick. Sarah was the second of six children and the only girl. Sarah’s family moved from Tennessee to the South Side of Chicago, IL when she was seven years old.
Sarah was raised in the community of Morgan Park where she and her family attended Beth Eden Baptist Church. She accepted Christ as a teenager under the pastorate of the late Reverend Richard C. Keller. Although she moved to Cary, NC in 2007, she maintained her affiliation with Beth Eden until her birth into eternal life.
Sarah attended John D. Shoop Elementary School and Morgan Park High School. As a teen Sarah and her friend Paula Daniels became charter members of Robert Wooten’s gospel singing group, the Wooten Choral Ensemble. She was an active member and supporter of the Wooten Ensemble until her 2007 departure from Chicago.
Upon graduating from Morgan Park, Sarah started an insurance career with Winter Hursh. After a few years, she moved to the Echels Insurance Agency. She later continued her insurance career with Aon Insurance until her retirement in 1994.
Sarah united in marriage to John Daniels on August 21, 1955, and to this union was born one daughter, Diane Louise. They were married until John’s death in August, 2003.
Sarah’s house was the gathering point for the Reddick and Daniels families and she hosted many of the family’s holiday gatherings. She was “Sis” and “Aunt Sarah” and the heart of the Reddick family.
Sarah loved Chicago and was an avid sports fan. She was very active in the Morgan Park Community: the Shoop School 49ers, the Beth Eden Commissars and the Morgan Park Golden Girls.
Sarah’s health necessitated her move to Cary in 2007 to be with her daughter and her family. She courageously battled her health challenges with great strength and faith – and always with a smile. On Monday, April 18, 2011, Sarah answered the call of the Lord and went to rest with her heavenly father.
In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her beloved brothers: Albert, Hamlet and Welton. Left to cherish her memories: her only child Diane (William) Fulton; two grandsons, Blake and Cameron; brothers, Raymond (Sybil) Reddick of Silver Creek MS and Mel (Gloria) Reddick of New York, NY; five sisters-in-law, Joanne Reddick of Las Vegas, NV, Olivia Reddick, Paula Evans, Gwendolyn Traylor and Jeanette Daniels all of Chicago, IL; one aunt, Pauline Mitchell of Detroit, MI. Also left to mourn are adored Reddick/Daniels nieces and nephews, close cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
