Born in Cedartown, GA. Sam was the son of Sylvania Bell and Rowe Dolph Conway, and grew up in Greenville, Al .
He was preceded in death by his brother Henderson Lee Conway of Greenville, Alabama and sister Francis Vandiver of Corinth, Miss.
He served in the U.S. Army 1950 to 1954, then 7 years in the active reserves. A member of American Legion post #0039, and many fraternal organizations.
Sam is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years, Wilma E. Kershaw, daughters Victoria E. Shay (Timothy), Cindy Sharon Mulvey (Dr. John), son Dr. Samuel C. Conway, Jr. ,brother-in-law, Thomas W. Kershaw (Susan), grandchildren, Melody Anne Shay, Timothy Shay, Deana Rose Shay Tomlinson (Kris), Katrina Mulvey Obarski (Thom) and Philip Mulvey (Angela), 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life is planned for Sunday, March 13, 2016, at 1:00 PM, at Annie Bailey's Irish Pub, 28-30 E. King St., Lancaster, PA.
