Ruby Pleasants Britt

Ruby Pleasants Britt, 89, died Sunday, November 28, 2010 after a brief illness. She was born May 27, 1921 to the late Alpheus and Ida (Cook) Pleasants, Sr. in Wake County, NC. Ruby graduated from Cary High school and later from Kings Business College. She stayed at home for 10 years to raise her children before returning to work with a career in State government.

Ruby is survived by one daughter, Susan Britt Ellis of Cary, NC; four grandchildren, Britt Nicole Mashburn of Raleigh, NC, Bryant Thomas Britt, Kathyrn Britt Davis and Richard David Britt all of Richlands, NC; four great-grandchildren; sister, Bertha Pleasants Daniel and sister-in-law, Gerda Pleasants Oleson, both of Cary, NC; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Onal Thomas Britt, son, Richard Thomas Britt and thirteen siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 117 S. Academy St Cary, NC.
