Rebecca Trigg Hobbs

Rebecca Trigg Hobbs, 58, of Cary, NC passed away Monday morning, June 7th, 2010 after a courageous fight with an aggressive form of leukemia. Rebecca (Becky) was born in Louisville, KY on January 15, 1952 to Mr. and Mrs. R.S. Trigg, Bardstown, KY, and was married to Stuart Hobbs, of Cox’s Creek, KY, in 1972.

Becky attended Western Kentucky University and graduated from University of Kentucky in 1975 with a B.S in Health Sciences, and in 1981 with a M.S. in Education. She wrote grants and taught while at the U. of KY College of Dentistry, then joined the Lexington Community College faculty and contributed years of dedicated service as a dental hygiene instructor before relocating with her husband to Cary, NC in 1986.

Since locating to Cary, Becky served as a fulltime mother and volunteer to church and community. Becky was a wonderfully loving wife and mother, and a mother figure to many other children throughout her life. She was a person of enduring Christian faith; a dedicated volunteer to many church, mission, and community services. She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Cary where served and chaired numerous committees, and was a member of the choir. Becky touched many lives with her love, peace, and joy; and, she will be missed and remembered by all. She is remembered for her ready and generous smile, positive attitude, and her love for music and gardening.

Becky is survived by her husband, Stuart, her son William Trigg Hobbs , her mother, Sara E. Trigg, Bardstown, KY; two brothers and six sisters: Joan Whittenburg, Sara McGee, & Robert Trigg of Louisville, KY, Carolyn Thomas, Overland Park Kansas, Hannah Sanderson, Bardstown, KY, Jeannie Gladura, South Bend, IN; William Trigg, Frankfort, KY, and Susan Ballard, Hillsborough, NC, as well as a host of extended family, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Cary, NC, on Thursday June 10th, 6-8 pm; with the Memorial Services held at the First United Methodist Church, Cary, NC, Friday morning, June 11th, beginning at 11:00 am.
