Priscilla Ann Russell Fairley, a native of Laurinburg, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Luther Russell Sr. and Earlie Mae Russell, joined the church triumphant on Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Priscilla was a graduate of Scotland High. She received her BS degree from St. Andrews Presbyterian College, Laurinburg, NC, where she received The Edith Williams Bullock Scholarship for Elementary Education. Priscilla lived life with a passion for prayer and the encouragement of others.
Priscilla’s spirit of encouragement and prayer reached far and wide including the creation of intercessory prayer teams, and workshops for both Soapstone United Methodist Church, and The Rockingham District of the North Carolina Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Priscilla was recipient of The WRAL "Living the Legacy" Award; she also started the first North Carolina Sarcoidosis Awareness/Support Group.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband and lifelong soul mate, Reverend Leonard E. Fairley of the home; one son, Joshua (Nicole) Fairley of Laurinburg, NC; one daughter, Elizabeth (Brandon) Galbreath of Newport News, VA; two sisters, Mazarene (Rev. Mack) McConnel of Winston-Salem, NC and Theresa M. Russell of Laurinburg, NC; three brothers, Luther (Dorothy ) Russell Jr. of Jacksonville, NC, Larry (Loretta) Russell of Rocky Mount, NC, and Herman (Linda) Russell of Hamlet, NC; two grandchildren, Joriah and Bailey of Laurinburg, NC; mother-in-law, Dorethea Fairley of Laurinburg, NC; four brothers-in-law, Curtis Fairley of Rockingham, NC, Calvin (Marie) McLeod of Maxton, NC, Darryl (Sharon) McLeod, and Willie McLeod of Laurinburg, NC; four sisters-in-law, Shirley Smith of Laurel Hill, NC, Diane Fairley of Charlotte, NC, Shelia (Ray) Arnette, and Vanessa McLeod of Laurinburg, NC; four aunts, Carmelle Russell of Charlotte, NC, Estella Brown of Laurinburg, NC, Rose McCallum of Garner, NC, and Evelyn Smith of Temple Hill, MD; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Soapstone United Methodist Church,
12837 Norwood Road, Raleigh, NC 27613.
