He was born the youngest son of ten siblings in Madison NJ, December 17, 1928 to the late Raffaelo and Gelromina Piccola.
Philip was in the US Marine Reserve before joining US Army during the Korean War where he was an MP and received several medals including the United Nations Service Medal and Bronze Service Stars. He married his wife Phyllis in 1949 and joined Novartis Pharmaceuticals (formerly Ciba-Geigy) where he worked for thirty-eight years. For most of his life he lived in Madison NJ, and later to Florida and then to Cary, NC.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Phyllis; daughters Shirley Piccola and Lisa Craig; and grandchildren Michael, Jessi and Rusty. Philip was a great family man and a loving father. He enjoyed golf, classic movies, and occasional trips to the Atlantic City casinos.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 12pm on December 11 at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Cary, NC.
