Peter Matthew Mayer, better known to all as Matt, was 45 years old and a life-long resident of Cary. He worked for over 15 years in Optometry and has been an electrician for the last several years. He held an Associate’s Degree in Optometry. Then, he went back to school at Wake Tech to pursue his electrician’s license.
Survived by his son Luke; his parents Ed and Marilyn Mayer; his brother Mark Mayer and wife Amy, his nieces Katie and Abbey; his sister Laura Mayer Green and husband Rob. And, let’s not forget his faithful dog Squeaks.
Matt had a passion for being on the open water, fishing, and hunting. He was a true family man who always looked forward to the two annual family beach trips they all took, 1 each summer and every Thanksgiving. His personality was larger than life and people were drawn to that as well as his genuine smile and his contagious laughter!
He will be missed by so many…his family; numerous life-long friends; his co-workers; but most of all his pride and joy, his son Luke. Matt, you will be missed but you will never be forgotten!
