Paul Jude Regina, 50, of Cary passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 at WakeMed in Cary after a well-fought battle with lung cancer. A celebration of his life will be held at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at Bass Lake Park on Bass Lake Road in Holly Springs, NC.
Born on August 17, 1965 in Manhattan, NY, Paul was the son of Ann and Angelo Regina of Monsey, NY. Paul met his wife, Jodi Soper, while attending SUNY Geneseo where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Paul and Jodi were married in Rochester, NY on July 14, 1990.
Paul very much enjoyed his career as a software engineer at Elster in Raleigh, NC. In his spare time, Paul loved to spend time at home with his wife and their beloved dog, Cassie. Paul especially loved summer weekends when he could swim in his pool. Paul had a passion for cars and he spent many years refurbishing his Mustang. He loved listening to music and attending concerts whenever possible.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Felice and Michael Regina, his maternal grandparents Maria and Joseph Barbuto, uncles Frank, Sal, and Pat Barbuto and aunt, Bella Barbuto.
Paul is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jodi Regina; his parents, Ann and Angelo Regina; his brothers, Michael Regina, Stephen Regina and Joseph Regina; his best friend, Lee Winter; sister-in-law Bonnie (Felber) Regina; nieces Sophie Regina and Livia Regina; nephew Julian Regina; aunts Adeline Simonetti, Geraldine Barbuto, Dottie Barbuto and Doreen Coffey; several cousins; and his beloved service dog, Cassie. Paul is survived on his wife’s side by Marianne Baxter, Lynn and Pat Soper, Mike and Debbie Soper, nieces Jessica and Courtney Soper, John and Bonnie Spry, and Ralph Bottone.
These people and many, many more will always admire Paul for his extraordinary determination, and his courage to face whatever challenges life threw at him. Paul was truly one-of-a-kind. He will be dearly missed as the husband, son, brother, friend, uncle and cousin that he was.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Paul’s name to Rottweiler Hearts Rescue, or the Wake County SPCA.
