L. Nadine Dunnegan was born September 10, 1928 in Williamsville, Wayne County, Missouri to the late William Irvin Dunnegan and Minta Carlyn (Warmack) Dunnegan. Nadine served as a one-room school teacher (grades 1-12), a school librarian, and a church librarian before she married Curtis Lee Bellomy on November 12, 1955 in Poplar Bluff, MO. She loved to paint and teach children. She even began a new painting the day she passed away. She had a very sharp mind and a deep passion to tell people about the saving power of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Nadine began her life with Jesus at a young age and answered the call to serve in church leadership positions and support her husband and young family while he attended seminary and subsequently as he served as a pastor of many churches. Nadine’s natural teaching talents allowed her to teach hundreds of Sunday School children, run a pre-school and direct scores of Vacation Bible Schools (VBS) well into her elderly years.
With her husband, Reverend Curtis Bellomy, they pastored many Southern Baptist Churches throughout the Northwest and the West Coast. They also built a church as Southern Baptist Home Missionaries in Nevada. After her husband retired as a pastor, Nadine Bellomy continued to serve as Sunday School teacher and VBS Director for many more decades.
Nadine was preceded in death by her husband (Curtis Bellomy), parents, twelve siblings, son-in-law (Otis Schofill), daughter-in-law (Barbara Bellomy), step-grandson (Stephen Paul Troxel) and grandson (Charles Schofill).
She is survived by two daughters, Yvonne (Jim) Schaefer and Yvette Schofill; one son, Forrest Dale Bellomy; seven grandsons, Gary (Donna) Espinosa, Peter (Suzanne) Schaefer, Jesse (Lindsay) Schaefer, Daniel (Sarah) Schaefer, Stephen (Mackenzie) Schaefer, Matthew Clayton Bellomy, and Vincent Forrest Dale Bellomy; and ten great-grandchildren, Abigail Espinosa, Alia Schaefer, Joshua Espinosa, David Schaefer, Caleb Schaefer, Myka Schaefer, Olivia Schaefer, Jacob Espinosa, Megan Schaefer, Marcus Schaefer, Alison Schaefer, and Violet Schaefer.
