Michael Patrick Casey

Michael Patrick Casey, known to his family and friends as Mike, died in his sleep on January 2, 2023 at the age of 67. He was born in Prince George’s Hospital Center in Cheverly, MD to the late Margaret Ann Guthro Casey and Donald Ward Casey. Mike grew up in Maryland, moved to the Boca Raton area of Florida as a young adult, and later settled in Raleigh. For the past 20 years, he worked as a real estate appraiser and broker in Raleigh and the surrounding area.

Mike was the 8th of 9 children. His eight (8) siblings include Donna Casey (deceased), Nancy McCarthy (husband: Brian), Jack Casey, Ward Casey (wife: Terry), Linda Biddix (deceased), Shirley Casey, Sue Durbin (husband: Rick), and Bruce Casey (deceased). He is survived by his fiancé, Courtney Hutchings, and his beloved daughter, Kristin Cole (husband: Steven) and his grand-daughter, Khloe Cole, as well as his nephew Casey Biddix who was like a son to him. Mike also has a large group of nieces, nephews and cousins with whom he enjoyed close and meaningful relationships. For many years, an annual highlight was the “Casey Christmas” which brought the large Casey family together from all over the east coast to enjoy their favorite foods and fellowship with each other.

When not working, Mike enjoyed playing golf, boating, attending Carolina Hurricanes games with family and friends, hosting parties and other get-togethers, camping near Jordan lake and rescuing dogs. Mike would always joke, when enjoying great food or a fun trip, "It doesn't suck." but this, this does suck.
