He is survived by his wife, Gladys Evelyn Harrod; sons, Ronald Dean Harrod and Paul Melvin Harrod; grandchildren, Stephen Douglas Harrod, Andrew Paul Harrod, Benjamin Leon Harrod and Kendra Lyn Harrod; great grandchildren, Victoria, Landon and Bentley; sister, Janet; and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald.
A funeral service will be held 1:00p.m. Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612. Immediately following the burial, a reception will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home.
