She is best known for her crafts and had a booth at Cary's Lazy Dazes Arts and Crafts Festival for 20 years, under the name of Kate's Crafts. She had several different locations over the years, but for many years her booth was located on the corner of Academy and West Chatham Streets in front of Ashworth's Drugs. Kate had a wide variety of crafts that she sold every year, some of which over the years have consisted of cross-stitch pieces, jewelry bags, Santa heads, Christmas carolers, dresses for little girls, Halloween items, clothespin dolls, mouse door stoppers, tole painting, etc. She also enjoyed quilting in her later years and has quilted all of her children and grandchildren quilts. Other interests Kate enjoyed over her lifetime included sewing, being on a bowling league, playing bridge, playing in a local softball league, and she also served as a Cookie Chairman for a local Girl Scouts troop for several years in the 60s. Kate loved going on vacation every year to the beach with her family and sometimes for just the day.
