Marilyn Thomas Woodall, age 71, of Raleigh, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Born on June 10, 1953 in Durham, NC; she was one of six children born to Charles and Mary Thomas. She grew up in Cary, NC and graduated from Cary High School in 1971. She worked at NCSU as the Administrative Assistant in the Entomology Department.
Marilyn accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior when she was 13 years old. She grew up in Mid-Way Baptist Church and served the Lord there along with her Grandmother, Mom, Dad, Aunts and siblings.
"Mo", as she was called affectionately by those close to her, loved all her family, sports, the mountains and horses. She often went on Girls trips with her mom and sisters and traveled to many places with Gail over the years. She loved to laugh and would join in on any game without reservation and made sure there was a lot of laughter and fun to be held along the way. We used any excuse to get together as a family and most of the time it was at hers and Bryant's house in Cary.
Marilyn and Bryant had a love for all sports but especially Hockey and Baseball. They were also NCSU and Duke fans and we had quite the rivalry within the family.
Christmas was always a blast at Mo's house. She loved to decorate her house, tree, buy PJ's for everyone and wrapped every present individually, even items in the stockings! She was also sneaky ... she never put names on them and would disguise many of them so her kids could not guess whose it was or what was in it!
Having just celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary on August 24th; Marilyn is lovingly remembered by her husband: L. Bryant Woodall, of Cary; three children: Michelle Robin Allen (Dexter), of N. Myrtle Beach, Shane Adam Gouge, of N. Myrtle Beach and Devin Chase Woodall, of Raleigh; and two grandchildren: Peyton Gouge and Landon Gouge, of Clayton.
She is also survived by her siblings: Gail Stephenson, of Raleigh, Chuck Thomas, of N. Myrtle Beach, and Danny Thomas (Cindy), of Sanford; brother-in-laws: Tim Woodall, Neil Woodall (Kim) and Richard Rouse; aunts: Annette Godwin, Merle Thomas Huff, Sally Thomas and Nancy Thomas; and her nieces and nephews: Reid Horton (Melissa), Derrick Thompson (Jane), Blaire Thompson, Lindy Capps (MD), Jenny Dixon (Jay), Christopher Thomas (Hannah), Kelcey Hartley (Justin), Karsen McGhee (Mark), Kyle Rouse (Heather), Lindsey Sugg (Matt), and Drew Woodall (Taylor).
She was preceded in death by her parents: Charles Lindsey Thomas and Mary Parrish Thomas; by her sisters: Patricia Whittington and Pam Rouse; sister-in-law: Marsha Thomas; and brother-in-law: Phil Whittington.
