Lynn Ann Dunn

Born to Wilton and Donna (Sipple) Knisley in York, PA on August 9, 1960, Lynn’s love for life was grand, contagious and knew no boundaries. Her compassion for others, unwavering strength, integrity and witty sense of humor served as a beacon of light and inspiration for all who knew her.

Above all else, Lynn’s greatest love in life was her family. She loved to keep her home warm and welcoming, hosting regular family dinners, cookouts, holidays, and gatherings of friends. Throughout all of these, the constant sound of happy chatter and raucous laughter could be heard. Though every chance she had, she’d escape to her happy place, Kure Beach NC, for some much-appreciated beach therapy.

Lynn is preceded in death by her mother Donna, father Wilton and nephew, Jordan Benkert. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 30 years, Gary. She was the devoted mother of daughter, Nicole Derthick (Daughter in Law, Wendy) and son, Marcus. Lynn was the adoring “Grandma” to precious grandchildren, Declan and Dawson. Lynn is also survived by sisters, Cathy Kitzmiller of Apex, NC and Lisa Benkert (Scott Schroeder) of York, PA, nephew Damien Benkert of Philadelphia, PA, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

A Celebration of Lynn’s Life will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Genesis United Methodist Church, 850 High House Road, Cary, NC 27513. Visitation will be from 1:00-1:45 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm. Fellowship with family and friends will immediately follow the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to SPCA of Wake County, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the American Red Cross.
