Lowell graduated from NC State University and Campbell College. He later married Cynthia Gayle Cameron on August 12, 1967, and they have a son, Christopher Michael Rawls. He worked 45 years for Kroger until his retirement in 2014. He was an avid fisherman, golfer, and hunter. He loved traveling the backroads of the south, especially the mountains. He especially loved taking his grandsons, Colton and Luke on adventures in his truck, while listening to country music.
Lowell is survived by his wife, Cynthia Gayle; son, Christopher Rawls (Michelle); grandsons, Colton and Luke of Cary; sister, Marsha Kushman (Keith) of Tullahoma, TN; brother, Eric Rawls (Sandra) of Vero Beach, FL; niece, Ashleigh Crane; nephews, Patrick Kushman (Cheryl), Michael Cameron (Taryn), Colin Rawls (Katie) and Russell Rawls (Kaylie); and sister-in-law, Merlene Cameron.
In addition to his parents, Lowell is preceded in death by his in-laws, Dan and Estelle Cameron.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 12:00 PM, at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh, NC.
Memorials may be made in Lowell’s memory to a charity of your choice.
