Kathryn Lena DiFiore

Kathryn L. DiFiore, 91, died Monday, August 16, 2010 after a long illness. She was born May 6, 1919 in McAlester, OK to the late Doro and Domenica Petitti. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Fred DiFiore.

Kathryn is survived by three children, Bernard DiFiore (Anne) of Dallas, TX, Fred DiFiore (Dee) of Covington, IN and Deborah Crabtree (Guy) of Durham, NC; six grandchildren, Erick DiFiore, Amy Gleason, Lauren DiFiore, Paul DiFiore, Andrew Crabtree and Ashley Crabtree and five great-grandchildren.

Kathryn and Fred were very active volunteers at St. Michael Catholic Church for years and were recognized as volunteers of the year. She generously served the church in many ways over the years. She attended Mass daily and was an active participant in the senior group, Young at Heart. Kathryn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her faith and family meant everything to her.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m, Friday, August 20, 2010 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Cary. Burial will follow at Brier Creek Memorial Garden, Raleigh.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, August 19 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd, Cary, NC.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Michaels Catholic Church.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to all the caregivers from Home Care Assistance who have attended to Kathryn for the last year. The family also is very grateful for the care provided to Kathryn the last few months by Hospice of Wake County.
