Josephine Morici Vivelo, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2024, at the age of 97. Born on December 28, 1926, in Brooklyn NY. Josephine was a homemaker who lived a full and vibrant life filled with love, creativity, and cherished family moments.
Josephine was married to her devoted husband, Angelo Vivelo, on June 18, 1950. They shared 67 wonderful years together before Angelo’s passing on August 15, 2017, at the age of 91. Together, they built a beautiful family that includes their four children: Livia Vivelo Bitner, Angelo Vivelo III, James Vivelo, and Carl Vivelo. She was the proud grandmother of seven and the loving great-grandmother of four.
An avid Mets fan, Josephine’s passions extended far beyond baseball. She delighted in reading mysteries and had a deep appreciation for music, from the songs of the 1940s that shaped her youth, to the lively tunes of the 1970s, and the smooth melodies of contemporary jazz. Her artistic spirit shone through her love of coloring, painting, and crafting exquisite pieces of crewel, cross-stitch, and embroidery.
In November, Josephine celebrated her early 98th birthday surrounded by her entire family—a joyful testament to the love and admiration she inspired in all who knew her.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Josephine’s memory to St. Jude Shrine. Contributions can be made at stjudeshrine.org/contributions.
