He was born December 18, 1929 in Elizabeth, NJ, a son of John Robert and Claire Lechner Rutledge Sr.
Surviving are his wife, Elaine Wilkins Rutledge; three children, Todd Rutledge, Robbie (Karen) Rutledge, and Valerie O’Bryan; three step-children, Beverly (Dale) Nicholas, Donna (Ken) Klinger, and Scott (Maria) Blank; one sister, Carol Benedict; ten grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY and NYU School of Law. He practiced law in Toms River, NJ for several years.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Jack was very active in Cary Presbyterian Church. He loved to garden, travel, and enjoyed his home in Schroon Lake, NY Adirondacks.
