JoAnne Hawkins Faucher died peacefully on Monday, August 5th, 2024 at Transitions LifeCare, Raleigh, NC. She was born in Smithfield, NC on January 14, 1938 to Ralph O. Hawkins and Stella Amanda (Horner) Hawkins. She grew up in Pittsboro, NC and graduated from Pittsboro High School in 1956, where she was voted Miss. Pittsboro High. Upon graduation, she attended Hardbargers Business School in Raleigh, NC.
She began her long career in telecommunications in Raleigh NC, then Alexandria, Virginia, and retired while living in Miami, Florida. While working in Miami she met Pierre, her husband of 33 years. In 1998, they relocated from Miami back to Raleigh, NC., where she lived for the past 26 years. She joined a book club with her many friends that shared her love of reading. She also enjoyed lunches with her many friends, family trips to the beach, exercising at her gym, dancing to music, listening to all genres of music, spending time with family, and working in her gardens.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph O. Hawkins and Amanda Horner Hawkins, husband, Pierre Joseph Faucher, siblings, Mary Frances Mucciarello, Dr. Ralph O. Hawkins, Patsy Greene, Peggy Lemons, Sarah Idol, and her infant brother Thomas David Hawkins. She is survived by her son, John David Golden (Stella), daughters, Tracy Golden, and Marcy Salter. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Richard Williams, Ash Salter, Tess Salter, great grandson, Cairo Williams, and many nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cary, NC for 26 years.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cary, NC on Saturday, August 24th at 11:00 AM. Interment will occur in the Memorial Garden, followed by a Celebration of Life in the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution in her memory to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church or Transitions LifeCenter in Raleigh, NC.
