Jean Anderson Morris Webb, who called Raleigh home for most of her 99 years, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2022 at Glenaire Retirement Community where she had lived since 2002 . Born in Clayton on June 21, 1923, she was preceded in death by her parents Lucile Anderson Morris and Williaum Flaude Morris, Sr. as well as by her brothers William Flaude Morris, Jr. and John Charles Morris. She was also predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Fred A. Webb, Jr.
Jean was a member of the Needham Broughton High School class of 1941 and continued her education at Saint Mary’s Junior College. She also took business courses and worked in two different departments at what was then North Carolina State College before her marriage.
Jean loved being with her family and friends and was always there for us as an amazing wife, mother, homemaker and friend. Two of her volunteer activities included her work at Rex Hospital and as a Cub Scout leader. She also participated in the Pine Needles Garden Club and the RHO ALPHA Book Club. She had many wonderful memories from growing up in the First Baptist Church and, with her husband Fred, she became a dedicated member of West Raleigh Presbyterian Church serving as a Sunday School teacher, a youth advisor, a loyal member of her circle, and a pastor’s aide. Her election as a Life Member of West Raleigh was well deserved.
Survivors include her two sons, Fred Arthur Webb III (Jean B. Webb) of Sugar Mountain and Robert Morris Webb (Debra T. Webb) of Mooresville along with grandchildren Frederick Bryan Webb (Bailey) of Sugar Mountain, Laura Elizabeth Webb (partner Shawn Lewis) of Garner, and Alan Christopher Webb (fiancee Aden Van Noppen) of San Geronimo, CA and two great-grandchildren.
A private, family graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery will be officiated by West Raleigh Presbyterian Church Pastor Katherine Rick-Miller on Thursday, August 4, 2022. Memorials may be sent to the church at 27 Horne Street, Raleigh, 27607.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.BrownWynneCary.com for the WEBB family.
