Jean Rooks Laskey died at home on the morning of April 7th after a yearlong illness. She was surrounded by her husband and two sons. She was born on September 30th 1940, grew up in Washington, D.C., and then moved to North Carolina in 1972.
She is survived by her husband John W, Laskey, a son John R. Laskey and his wife Michelle of Suffolk, VA, a son J. Thomas Laskey and his wife Kathy of Raleigh, NC and seven grandchildren. She is also survived by her twin sister, Joan Marie Rooks, of Washington D.C., a sister Lorraine Rooks Hollen of Bethesda, Maryland and a brother, William A. Rooks, Jr. of Tallmadge, Ohio.
She worked with DMV for over twenty years as a title specialist and loved her job. With her off time she enjoyed European travel, gardening and her owl collection.
The family would like everyone to know how much Jean appreciated all of the thoughts, prayers, love and support given to her and her family during her illness.
A memorial service will be held at St. Michael the Archangel in Cary at 10 am on April 23. Following the service a reception will be held at Brown Wynne Funeral Home in Cary.
