Jan was born in Battle Creek, MI on October 22, 1937. She graduated from Marshall High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bronson Medical School.
Jan was formerly married to Howard P. Powell, Jr.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Rosalie Huepenbecker, brother, Philip Huepenbecker, and former husband, Howard Powell.
Jan worked as a registered nurse for Rex Hospital and several doctors in Cary and Burlington, NC. She loved her family, and enjoyed sewing, crafts, traveling, cooking and bible study. She was also actively involved in the Togetherness Sunday School class, Marys and Marthas Thursday night bible study and various mission outreaches of First United Methodist Church of Cary.
Jan is survived by daughters Carolyn and Gary Churchill, Valerie and Ken Bromenschenkel, Sharon and Wayne Felber, granddaughters Christina and Rebecca Churchill, Brooke and Jill Bromenschenkel, sister-in-law Barbara Huepenbecker, nephews Mark Huepenbecker, John and Lisa Huepenbecker, nieces Mary and Fred Kohler, Wendy and Bill Hewitt, and Dee and Shake Spitler and other family and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 4:00pm on Saturday, March 24th at First United Methodist Church of Cary, NC. Rev. Heather Wong will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall.
