She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. As a devoted helpmate and a patient person, she faithfully assisted with any projects and made a loving home where family and friends were always welcomed. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook. She enjoyed gardening, watching western movies, laughing, friends, and her greatest joy was time she spent with her 6 grandchildren and her great-granddaughter.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, William E. Staley, Jr.; her daughter, Melissa Conley and husband Jeff of Apex; daughter Sherry Asbill and husband Roger of Cary; daughter Debbie Gilfillan and husband Bryan of Cary; grandchildren: Courtney Gilfillan of Holly Springs, Tyler Asbill of Cary, Ashley Gilfillan Burnsed and husband Cameron of Fort Riley, Kansas; Ryan Asbill of Cary, Nick Gilfillan of Cary, William Gilfillan of Willow Springs, and great-granddaughter Sadie Burnsed of Fort Riley, brother Grady Cox and wife Norma of Asheboro; sister Nina Dickens and husband Elbert of Asheboro; Clifford Cox of Columbia, SC; and many loved nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Clifton and Lena Cox; brothers: Paul, David and Worth Cox.
Visitation will be held 6:30pm-8:30pm Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, September 10 at First United Methodist Church in downtown Cary.
