Gloria (Caranci) Gallo, 90, formerly of Smithfield, RI, passed away with her son Larry by her side on August 1, 2016 at her home, LiveWell Assisted Living, in Chapel Hill, NC. Gloria, the daughter of the late Pasquale and Maria (Vacca) Caranci, was born March 1, 1926 in Providence, RI.
After graduating from North Providence High School, Gloria married Lorenzo A. Gallo, who after 66 years predeceased her in 2013. She is also predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in law, Etta and Adolph Lauteri, Theresa and Victor Andreozzi, Margie and John Mulligan, Dante Menna, and nephews James Mulligan and Michael Menna.
Gloria was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and grandmother. She loved taking care of others and her passion in life was her family and friends. A true homemaker she will be remembered for her welcoming home, amazing meals and time shared with family and friends. Gloria’s interests outside the home included volunteering for the State of RI Legislature and working as a bank teller. Most of all, she loved spending time with her two joys in life, her grandsons, who will always remember her kind heart and playful spirit.
Gloria is survived by her son Larry and his spouse Laura, her grandsons, Nick and his fiancé Jennifer, and Chris and his spouse Katrina. She is also survived by her sister, Gilda Menna who affectionately referred to her as “her lone ranger,” and several nieces and nephews.
The family expresses its deepest gratitude to all the staff at LiveWell Assisted Living for their extraordinary and loving care over the years, and to UNC Hospice during the last month of her life. A memorial service in RI will be held at a later date.
