George Edward Whitt

Born in Madison County, AL on December 24, 1933, he was a son on the late John and Tula Whitt. He was a Korean War veteran of the US Air Force. Mr. Whitt was retired from IBM in 1993 after many years of service. After retiring, he was self-employed as a property manager and enjoyed that very much. In addition to volunteering at his church, he was a deacon, Sunday school director, and longtime member of Ephesus Baptist Church in Raleigh.

He was preceded in death by his dedicated wife of over 58 years, Robbie Whitt.

Mr. Whitt is survived by his daughter, Julia Whitt (Tom) Ketchum of Cary; sons, Gary Edward Whitt (Crystal) of Cary, Barry Lynn Whitt (Katherine) of Clayton; grandchildren, Eric, Alexandria, Courtney, Emily, Grace, Justin, Stephanie and Lori.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Ephesus Baptist Church, 6767 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh, NC 27606. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM at the church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations may be made to the Baptist Men’s Association, 205 Convention Drive, Cary, NC 27511 or to Gideon’s International, PO Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090.
