Evelyn Williams Chastain

Evelyn Catherine Williams Chastain, 86, of Cary, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on 17 July 2020. She was born to parents Willie Woodrow Williams and Huldia Catherine Williams, on 20 July 1934 in Morganton, North Carolina.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 66 years, Floyd Chastain, three daughters: Gail Freeman, Pamela Chastain and Bobby Chastain and one granddaughter, Heather Freeman.

Evelyn was a special gift from God. She was a caring, loving wife and mother. She was always there for us and others in countless ways. She held our hand, shared her unconditional love and her unwavering faith. She gave us her shoulder to cry on and words of wisdom to keep us going. Evelyn was resilient, courageous, gentle, and selfless. Her smile was contagious. She asked for so little but gave us so much. She was the glue that kept our family together and her memory will continue to keep our family together.

We are very appreciative of the staff at UNC Rex Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center of Apex for the outstanding care they provided to Evelyn. Their compassion and support of Evelyn and the family gave us a great sense of peace knowing she was well-cared for.

The family has entrusted Brown-Wynne Funeral Home with the arrangements. Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home ,200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC. Graveside service immediately following at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC.
