Emelda Payne Wagoner

Emelda Marie Payne Wagoner peacefully ascended her earthly bounds, late on the morning of the 12th day of June, 2023, after a brief illness. She was at home, with her children, and her brother at her side, and her cat in her lap.

She was preceded in passing by her husband Joe Lee Wagoner of Apex NC, her sister Betty Joyce Payne George of Gurley AL, and her oldest brother James Bartee Payne of Cary NC. She is survived by her older brother Richard Brown Payne of Gurley AL, and her two children Emelda Lee Towle of Water Valley MS, and Joe Lee Wagoner Jr of Apex NC.

The family will be receiving guests for visitation at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, located at 200 SE Maynard Rd, Cary, NC 27529 on Thursday, June 22nd from 6:00pm, until 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Green Level Baptist Church, located at 8509 Green Level Church Rd, Cary on Friday, June 23rd at 11:00am, with a short graveside service afterwards.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Emelda's honor to The Spay Neuter Assistance Program in New Hill NC, a non-profit mobile veterinary hospital providing low-cost veterinary care all over the Triangle area. (SNAP-NC, PO Box 278, New Hill NC, 27562)
