Ekaterini,
(Katina to her friends), was an entrepreneur, a progressive thinker, and a truly amazing woman. A tailor/seamstress and designer for women's clothing by trade, she  had a successful business in her hometown of Soho, Greece, where she also trained the next generation in the art of making and designing women's clothing.

In the early 70's, Ekaterini and her husband with their two young children  migrated from Soho to the Charlotte NC in search of the American dream. After a decade of ups and downs, and many moves, they settled in Raleigh NC, where they lived for the past 40 years.

As successful business owners of Tolly's Tailor Shop, they were instrumental in making sure their children had everything they needed to succeed in life. The two had a strong partnership and worked together well into their 70's, looking forward to retirement.

Unfortunately, Ekaterini's destiny was to suffer the degrading  consequences of Alzheimer's disease. This strong, helpful, logical, empathetic, and energetic person slowly becomes the family member in need of most care. She who had helped and guided and taught had to be fed and changed and put to sleep  every night. The one thing this disease did not touch was her personality. She remained calm, happy to see her family members, happy to spend time with her husband, her children, her two granddaughters and she absolutely adored being around her great-grandson; and although she could not speak, her gratitude for the care and kindness she received from everyone including all professional teams and the love she fostered for her family, could easily be felt by her smile and sparkling eyes.

She is survived by her husband Apostolos; her brother Demosthenes Deretzis of Soho; her son George and daughter Helen Avramidis; by her granddaughter Anastasia Stavropulu Hayes and husband Chad Hayes and their son Johnny; by her granddaughter Katherine Stavropulu and many nieces and nephews in Greece.

She will be greatly missed
