Edward "Ned" Hartin Rhame

He was born March 4, 1952, to Joseph Burns Rhame, Sr. and Dorothy Hartin Rhame. When he was 12 his family moved to Greensboro, NC, where he graduated from Grimsley High School in 1970. He met his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Lodor Rhame, at Christ United Methodist Church.

Ned attended Brevard College and graduated from High Point College in 1974. Ned spent his entire professional career in sales in the wallpaper industry.

Since retirement, he has traveled to Europe, Canada and across the United States, and he spent as much time as he could at Wrightsville Beach. He was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church Cary and found lifelong friends in the Unity Sunday school class. For the Unity Class, he spent hours meticulously arranging group day trips around the state to its most famous barbeque restaurants.

Ned never met a stranger, loved the dance floor and was an avid ACC basketball watcher. He loved a good story and a joke. Ned will be remembered for his sense of humor and his distinct and infectious laugh. He spent his life in service to others. But his favorite hobby in the last several years was being a grandfather.

Ned is survived by his wife Beth, daughters Mary Elizabeth Rhame-Minor and husband Jared Minor, and Patricia Lodor Rhame and husband Matthew Clewis; grandchildren Elizabeth Hazel Minor, Hartin William Minor and Everett Rhame Clewis; brother Joseph Burns Rhame, Jr. and wife Dawn Rhame; and numerous extended family members and special friends.

Due to COVID19, a private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family invites contributions to First United Methodist Church Cary (https://firstcary.com/) and Bridge the Gap Mission (https://bridgethegapmission.org/).

Ned received excellent, compassionate medical care in his last days. The family thanks the staff of the MICU at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Carolina Donor Services, Duke Life Flight and Duke Transplant Center.

Ned was an organ donor and chose to give the gift of life, which has been extended to several people.
