Ed was born April 22, 1947 in Sylvania, GA to Dorothy Mock Deyo and Ed Deyo, Sr. After earning his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Georgia Southern University, Ed went on to a long career as a Special Agent with the US Department of Agriculture until he retired in 1998. He racked up an impressive arrest record, with over 90% of his arrests leading to prosecution.
Ed loved to be on the water, enjoying swimming, fishing, water skiing, boating, sailing, and SCUBA diving. He was active in the Raleigh Power and Sail Squadron, teaching classes, leading excursions, and serving a term as Commander. More than anything though, he loved spending time with his wife, Bunie, and was always happiest when she was by his side.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, his mother-in-law, Pauline Bragg of Hiltonia, GA and her husband, Sam, and his niece, Danielle Lariscy of Sylvania, GA.
Ed is survived by his wife, Bunie Northcutt Deyo of Cary, his son, Eddie Deyo of Wake Forest, NC and his wife Misty, his son Scott Deyo of Fayetteville, NC and his wife Shalena, and his grandchildren Scott-Alan, Joseph, Kaitlynn, Evan, and Claire.
He is also survived by his sister, Diana Deyo Robinson of Sylvania, GA and her husband Arthur Willett (A. W.), his niece Darlette Perkins of Sylvania, GA and her husband Anthony, and multiple generations of great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary, NC on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Dementia Society of America.
His memorial is being held on what would have been Ed and Bunie’s anniversary, their lifetime adventure together coming to an end on the same date it began.
