Born May 5, 1941 in Roanoke Rapids, NC, she was the third of six children of the late Tucker and Bedder Fayed of Beirut, Lebanon. She spent her childhood in Roanoke Rapids, NC and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, followed by a graduate degree in nursing there as well.
Dorothy is survived by her spouse David S. Perry and siblings, Wadad F. Giles (James), Sam T. Fayed, and Betty (Jeannie) Moore, as well as several nieces and nephews, and an extended family of in-laws.
Her first love was nursing and she spent her entire career at her much loved UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC.
In her retirement years, she used her sharp business sense to become a successful and avid “antiquer” – buying and selling antiques throughout North Carolina. She enjoyed nothing more than rummaging through thrift stores, socializing at auctions, and especially coming away with bargains! She was an avid card player, and an excellent Southern Style cook.
A celebration of life will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 Southeast Maynard Road, Cary, NC, on Saturday February 8, 2020 from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm.
