Dorothy Anne Bingham BabbOn Friday, November 13, Dorothy Anne (“Dot”) Bingham Babb, at the age of 83, completed the circle of her life with us. Shortly after noon, she departed from our family where she would again be united with the great love of her life, Richard (Dick) Babb and her young son, Gary. On this journey, our adored “Grandma” carries the unending love, admiration and gratitude of three daughters, three sons-in-law, 12 grandchildren and a legion of devoted friends who were part of her extended family.Dorothy united herself in marriage to Richard (“Dick”) Babb on August 20th, 1949, and they were blessed with four children. The first two arrived as a set of twins, Gary and Gail. Gary’s life was brief and he passed from his parents arms as an infant. Two other children, Joy and Julie, joined the family of “Babb girls.”Dot’s culinary reputation was legendary among her family and friends. Our holiday dinners and family gatherings will never be the same; our kitchens will never have those familiar butter-based aromas. She leaves a void in our lives, hearts and homes that cannot be filled.Dot loved to travel and visit her family and friends around the world. Dot lived life to the fullest and we were privileged to share in her adventures. The family that Dot and Dick Babb created, loved and inspired, includes: daughters, Gail Roumanis (Tony Roumanis) of Cary, North Carolina; Joy Moshakos (Lou Moshakos) of Cary, North Carolina; and Julie McDaniel (James McDaniel) of Palm City, Florida. Grandchildren include: William Roumanis; Katrina Roumanis Litsas (Dimitrios Litsas); Julia Roumanis; Melissa Roumanis; Gary Roumanis; Kristen Roumanis; Amber Moshakos; Crystal Moshakos; Chantal Moshakos; James McDaniel; Richard McDaniel; and Amanda McDaniel. Our family wishes to express our deep appreciation to the doctors and nurses at WakeMed Cary Hospital and in the CCU at WakeMed Raleigh Campus who worked so valiantly and compassionately during the past four days to help keep our beloved mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother in our lives for just a minute longer. The life and times of Dorothy Babb will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 17 at 3 pm at a service to be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 221 Union Street in Cary, North Carolina, 27511. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall 4–6 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Cancer Society. Dot will be laid to rest in Montreal, Canada, at Daddy’s side, the love of her life - “Together Forever”
