Don was born in Houston, TX on April 10, 1940. He graduated from Karnes City High School and attended University of North Texas to receive a Bachelor of Science degree. Don continued his studies to receive a banking degree from Louisiana State University.
Don was married to Jacquelyn Schautteet on August 12, 1997; they were happily married for 25 years.
Don created and founded Arrow Financial Corp dba, Arrow Pawn & Jewelry in 1992. Arrow Pawn & Jewelry has served the community for 30 years. He enjoyed golfing trips with his beloved wife and traveling the world with his family. He supported many charities throughout his life.
Don is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn Schautteet of Cary, NC; son, Kevin Schautteet of Raleigh, NC; son, Kyle Schautteet and wife, Debra Schautteet of Angier, NC; stepson, Brian Stanley of Clayton, NC; stepdaughter, Janet Tart and husband, Trey Tart of Knightdale, NC. Grandchildren, Halyn Schautteet, Tyler LeBlanc, Kaylee Villacres (Gabriel), Kyle Stanley, Justin Tart (Erin) and Rebecca Johnson (Rex); Great Grandson, Trey Johnson and many nieces and nephews.
Don is preceded in death by his father, Edward Fredrick Schautteet and mother, Blanche Wiley Schautteet both of Karnes City, TX and his sister, Ella Jean Najvar of Karnes City, TX.
The celebration of life will be held on December 28, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church located at 100 W Lochmere Dr. Cary, NC 27518. Pastors Zach Sarrault and Jon Richter will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to ProMedica Hospice of Raleigh-Durham located at 4505 Falls of Neuse Rd. # 650, Raleigh, NC 27609 in the name of Donald Schautteet.
