Donald "Granddad" Jack Moore

Donald Jack Moore, 86, died peacefully at Sunrise Senior Living Facility in Cary, NC. He was a native of Madill, OK, the son of the late Jesse and Neda Mae Moore. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doratha Chappell Moore of Cary, NC; daughter, Donna Doratha Bondurant and husband, Stan, of Columbus, GA; son, Robert William (Bobby) Moore and wife, Karen, of Cary, NC; six grandchildren, Eric Michael Lothspeich of Austin, TX, Lauren Lothspeich Sisko and husband, Dennis, of Athens, GA, Catherine Marie Lothspeich of Chicago, IL, Kristen Chappell Lothspeich of Columbus, GA, Ashley Brooke Carrera and husband, Jordan, of Chapel Hill, NC, Allison Lynn Moore of Cary, NC; great granddaughter, Emily Brooke Massey of Columbus, GA; sister, Barbara Holden and husband, Jerry, of Orange, CA; and nephew, Dale Holden of Orange, CA.

Don served as an elder for the Brooks Avenue Church of Christ in Raleigh for 28 years. He worked for the NC State Department of Community Colleges, retiring in 1996. During his service in the Army, 1951-53, he was stationed in Korea. He attended Abilene Christian University and graduated from the University of Houston.

Don will be remembered for his love for and dedication to the Lord and His church, and his love for his wife, children and grandchildren. He treasured his many, many friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 8th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 9th at Brooks Avenue Church of Christ, 700 Brooks Avenue, Raleigh. Interment will be at Raleigh Memorial Park.

The family extends grateful appreciation to Rose Hammonds, a faithful friend who dedicated herself to serving Don and Doratha in many special ways.
