Dolly Marie Wilson Moss, known as Marie, reached the end of her wonderful life on February 1st, 2022. She was a caring wife, daughter, mother, grandmother “nana”, sister, and friend during her 81 years of life.
Marie was born on January 22, 1941, in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, to the late Emmett and Maud Wilson.
She is survived by her two sons, Ted Moss of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Craig Moss and his wife, Terri, of Cary. She leaves behind her four grandchildren: Karissa, Ryan, Sean, Lily, and Danielle “Dannie”. She is also survived by her sister, Yvonne Haskins and her husband Al, of Aberdeen, NC. She also leaves many other family members, and dear friends, who will sadly miss her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her late husband, Charles Gordon Moss, and her brother, Larry Wilson.
Before Marie moved to Cary, she was well known in the Roanoke Rapids community. She ran a local florist shop, Wilson’s Flower & Gourmet, that was started by her mother, and carried out by Marie until her retirement. Marie loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals & desserts, for her family and friends. Neighborhood children would gather around the kitchen table for her homemade biscuits at the same time each night. Most weekends were spent as a volunteer at the church, or Relay for Life. Marie attended East Tenth Street Christian Church, Good News Baptist, and First Christian Church.
Marie’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, helping others, and watching her grandchildren play sports. She loved reading a good book, going fishing, watching the Wolfpack play, crocheting, and making Christmas cookies. People would often say Marie has never met a stranger, and she would do anything for anyone. Mentions of Marie are, “She was an amazing woman; She always treated me like I was one of her own; Marie was one of the kindest and sweetest folks I know”. We will all miss her dearly.
A ceremonial service is scheduled for 2pm on Friday, February 4th, 2022, at Jordan Oaks Gracious Retirement Living. The address is 10820 Penny Rd. Cary, NC 27518.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to Triangle Beagle Rescue of NC, Inc., or the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) Foundation.
