She was born in Lexington, NC and lived her entire life in North Carolina. She dedicated her life to her loving family and friends.
Debbie earned her Bachelor’s of Arts in History from NC State University (1978), where she met her husband, Bob. They married in 1980 and raised three children, Ryan, Joel, and Tyler, in Cary, NC, where she lived the majority of her life. While dedicating her professional career to Wake County Public Schools, she earned two Master’s degrees from NC State, in School Counseling (1981) and School Administration (2005).
She loved spending her time with family, vacationing to the beach, and relaxing on her porch. She’ll be fondly remembered for her caring nature and willingness to take charge in any moment.
Debbie is survived by her husband James Robert (Bob) Everett, III, son Ryan Everett (wife – Jennifer Lombardo), son Joel Everett (wife – Caroline Everett), son Tyler Everett, and grandchildren Mary-Jane Everett and Ada Everett. She is also survived by her sister Lynne Quiroga (husband – Albert Quiroga), brother Dr. David Sheppard (wife – Dr. Laine Sheppard), sister in law Rebecca Deatherage (husband – James Deatherage), niece Ashley Palasota (husband – Corey Palasota), niece Sara Metzinger (husband – John Metzinger), niece Lauren Quiroga, nephew Cole Sheppard, and nephew Carter Sheppard.
She was preceded in death by her father Carrol Lamon Sheppard, and mother Evelyn Swing Sheppard.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a funeral home visitation is not scheduled.
A private memorial service will be held for the family only at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary. Others are invited to watch via Facebook at the service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society or Transitions of Wake County.
