Daniel "Cecil" Johnson

Cecil was born June 30, 1947 in Greensboro, NC. He grew up in Burlington, NC and graduated from Elon University. Cecil was a faithful member of Cary Presbyterian Church.

Cecil was preceded in death by his father, Graham Cecil Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cathy Collins Johnson; mother, Donnie Schoffner Johnson of Burlington; daughters, Jennifer Johnson Bryant and her husband, Nolan of Apex; and Stephanie Hancock and her husband, Matt of Cary; sister, Linda Johnson Newsom and her husband, Danny of Winston-Salem; 3 grandchildren, Jacob Daniel Bryant; Samuel Collins Bryant; John Sanford Bryant all of Apex.

Cecil served in the US Air Force Band for four years. After his retirement, he enjoyed working as a professional musician. He loved teaching and playing his saxophone and never lost his excitement and joy for music. Cecil was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

"Poppy" cherished the time he spent with his grandsons. Cecil will be greatly missed and always loved.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Cary Presbyterian Church, 614 Griffis Street, Cary, NC 27511 with Dr. Kyle Allen officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
