Clark (Bud) Lee Glass, 95, of Woodland Terrace Senior Living died on April 9, 2025. Clark Lee Glass is the son of Alexander McCaughin Glass and Margaret Felten Hinchman. He was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania on Friday, December 13, 1929. As a result, he considered Friday the 13th his lucky day! He graduated from Eisenhower High School and went to work for the US Dept of Interior for Mines. He married his high school sweetheart Mary Jane Pilipietz on March 3, 1951 before being drafted into the US Army during the Korean Conflict. His hobbies included traveling, stain glass and rescuing Chinese Shar-Peis.
Bud and Mary Jane moved to Culpeper Virginia in 1957. They both had careers and a son to raise, but immediately started a life of volunteering for their church and community. Bud worked in the banking industry before being elected as the Culpeper County Treasurer for 24 years. He was a dedicated volunteer, serving the Culpeper Medical Center, Food Closet, Lion’s Club and Remote Area Medical in Wise County, Virginia. He was a leader and had served as Charter President of the Culpeper Dawn Lions Club, President of the Virginia Treasurer’s Association, President of the Virginia Association of Elected Constitutional Officers, Captain of local Civil Air Patrol and many positions within the Masonic Order. He was an organizer and helped start the local Civil Air Patrol, Northern Piedmont Family YMCA and Rapidan Hospice. Bud and his wife received the Good Scout Award and received a Virginia General Assembly Joint Resolution commending their exceptional dedication to the welfare of the Culpeper community. He was active in the St Stephen’s Episcopal Church where he sang in the choir and served on the vestry and Senior Warden.
He was predeceased in death by his wife, Mary Jane Glass and two sisters, Prudence G Manning and Ruthann G Blough. He is survived by his son, Mark Lee Glass and his wife Rebecca (Becky) Waggoner Glass of Cary, North Carolina and a grandson, Dr. Stephen Andrew Glass, his wife Katherine (Kati) Marie Glass and future great granddaughter of New Castle, Colorado, and one niece, Donna Bassett.
The family asks everyone to remember Bud and to celebrate his life in their own way. Bud lived a life of giving and he would hope that you will do an unexpected and spontaneous act of kindness for someone less fortunate and support charitable organizations in your area.The family would like to express thanks to Bud’s wonderful friends in Cary NC and Culpeper Va and to the hospice caregivers at Transition Lifecare in Raleigh.
