Charles Ray Pierce passed away Sunday March 12, 2017 following a brief illness. Charles, a lifetime Cary native was the youngest of 10 children. After working on the family’s dairy farm on Kildaire Farm Road as a child, he served his country in the US Air Force serving overseas in Korea. After being honorably discharged he worked at IBM for over 30 years. After retirement he devoted his time to his love of painting, woodworking, hiking, camping and watching NC State athletics. He was a long time season ticket holder for NC State Baseball.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents; Bernice DeWitt “BD” and Pearl Simpson Pierce; brothers James, Troy, Billy, and Carl; sisters Margaret Jordan and Inez Rogers. He is survived by his beloved companion, Yvonne Weaver; two children; Frank, and wife Teresa of Benson; Kelli Pierce Adams, and husband Chris of Holly Springs; grandchildren Melissa and husband Joshua, Brittany, Daniel and girlfriend Hannah, Johnathon and Kathryn; great grandsons Jayden and Jiri and a great granddaughter due in May; sisters K.D. Bowling of Harrisburg, Dot Strickland and husband Ken of Fuquay-Varina, and Fay Hines of Four Oaks; sister in laws, Ruth Johnson, Edna Pierce. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews along with a large extended family.
A service will be held for Charles on Tuesday March 21, 2:00pm at Macedonia Baptist Church, 7100 Holly Springs Rd, Raleigh, NC 27606. His family will receive friends immediately following the service.
