Jack is survived by his wife, Sue of 58 years; daughters, Caroline Jackson (Joe), Kathey Brown (Bud); sisters, Joyce Swafford (Charles) and June Sorrells (Paul); brother, John; many loving grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and extended family. Jack was a devoted father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.
Jack served in the US Army stationed in Germany in 1953 and retired from the NCDOT Right of Way Department after 35 years of service. He loved Ephesus Baptist Church where he has spent over 45 years serving in many roles in the Church and participating in various mission projects.
So many will remember Jack for his contagious laugh and giving spirit. His goal each day was to find some way to give back or help others, and he instilled this discipline and a strong faith in God in his children. He made this world a better place.
A special thank you to all the friends who have surrounded Jack and Sue over these past few months while this terrible disease took its toll.
Funeral services will be at Ephesus Baptist Church, Raleigh NC, on Wednesday, July 8th at 10:00 AM with the visitation to follow at the Church. Graveside services will be at Iotla Baptist Church Cemetery, Franklin NC on Thursday at 3:00 PM.
