Cecelia Julia McCabe Sweeney

Mrs. Cecelia Julia McCabe Sweeney, 86, of Cary, formerly of Nutley, NJ, passed away peacefully Friday, June 19, 2015, in Raleigh, NC. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 25, at 1:00 pm, at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Cary, NC. Interment will take place at the historic Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh. Visiting will be on Wednesday, June 24, from 6 to 8 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary. A Memorial will be held for New Jersey family and friends in late July.

Mrs. Sweeney was employed by the townships of Belleville and Nutley, serving as administrative assistant in both the local and senatorial capacities. She was predeceased by her husband, John, in 2000, and is survived by her children Nora Bishop and her husband, John, Judith Thanhauser and her husband David, and Jacqueline Gerding and her husband Andrew; her grandchildren, Jessica, Meghan, Timothy and Ashley Bishop, Sarah and Ian Grady, Kevin and Samantha Thanhauser, and Jeffrey and Casey Gerding.
