Caroline Warren died December 23, 2018 at the age of 83 surrounded by her family. She was born in Shelby, NC to Clyde E. Brown and Trettie Potts Brown. She later graduated from New Hanover High school in 1953 in Wilmington, NC.
Caroline met her husband Waite working during summer school at what is now UNC Wilmington, where she graduated in 1956. She later went to UNC Chapel Hill for advanced classes.
Waite and Caroline were married in 1957 while he was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY. She and her family moved across the state – living in Shelby, Charlotte, Wilmington and finally moving to Cary in 1971.
Caroline loved helping families and worked as a Realtor in Cary for more than 20 years. As a young girl Caroline worked and volunteered with The Boys and Girls Club in Wilmington. This pattern of giving continued throughout her life. She did hours of volunteer work at Church, in schools, and at the Dorcas Shop. She was recognized for her Service in the Esther Circle, JOY Group Leadership and the Mighty Monday’s Children’s Group by the United Methodist Women in 2014.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Waite Warren Sr; daughter and son in law, Eleanor and Steve Thorne of Cary; son and daughter in law, Waite and Rhonda Warren of Greensboro; grandchildren, Matthew Thorne and his wife Kelly, Savannah Thorne, Ross Warren, Sarah Warren; and great grandson James Thorne; her niece, Allison McGee and her family and nephew Brian Wilson and his family.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, December 30th at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary.
