Caroline Beck, 77, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 15, 2011, following a brief illness. She was born April 15, 1934 in New York, NY and was the loving wife of S. Brinker Beck, her husband of 57 years. She was preceded in death by her mother, Caroline (Kirtz) Mirabella, her uncle, Edward Schlossmacher, and her cousin, Judy Kautz-Toth.
Caroline was a long-time active member of Colonial Baptist Church. She worked as an office secretary and bookkeeper at the church from the founding years to her retirement in 2007. She enjoyed making crafts, sewing, and quilting. She sang in the church choir, joined a garden club and most recently, she belonged to a quilt group. She will be greatly missed by many of her church and quilting friends.
In addition to her husband, S. Brinker Beck of Cary, NC, Caroline is also survived by her daughter, Lynn Hayes (Philip) of Allendale, MI, her son, Peter Beck (Teri) of Frederick, MD; grandchildren, Kyle Beck, Keri Beck, Mark Hayes (Anna), Christopher Hayes (Sarah), Brian Hayes and Laura Haynam (Kyle); great granddaughter, Emma; aunts, Madeline Kautz and Ruth Schlossmacher; cousins, Lois Carnes (Ernest) and Edward Schlossmacher (Joy).
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Colonial Baptist Church, 6051 Tryon Road, Cary, with Pastor Stephen Davey officiating. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 pm, prior to the service at the church.
