Carol Terrell Russell, 83, of Cary passed away on September 17, 2017. Carol was born in Lexington, Virginia. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree. She also earned a fellowship to Sweet Briar College. Carol went on to be a 5th grade school teacher for many years before ultimately opening her own business. She was the proud owner of Carol Russell Management, a meeting management practice, for fifteen years before her retirement.
Carol was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Cary. She was very active, participating in many clubs and organizations such as the Cary Garden Club, Joy Group at her church and the XYZ Club. Having lived in her neighborhood since 1983, Carol created a close bond with all of her neighbors. She kept herself busy with family and friends, social events, gardening and arts and crafts, as well as being an avid sports fan. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandson, whom she said gave her a new lease on life. Everyone will remember Carol as a loving and giving person, with a wonderful sense of humor, boundless energy and spirit.
Left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Michael, Kevin and Matthew Russell; daughter in-law Ellen Russell; grandson, James Russell; nephew, John L. Terrell Jr.; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, John L. Terrell.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 25 at 2:00pm at First United Methodist Church, 117 S. Academy Street, Cary.
