Thinking of Carol on her birthday. I miss your laugh, your smile, just your presence at work.

Very glad to be reminded of what a sweet neighbor friend Carol was. Love this picture with her two pigtails, with such a sincere smile.  :)

My heart is so heavy.  I just heard on Monday that my sweet friend Carol passed away last December.  She was one of a kind and a mentor to me as a single mother struggling to raise a son.  I am grateful to have known and worked with her at Westat many years ago and am a better person for having known her.   Thank you Carol - I will never forget you.

I wanted to share my statement again as I struggled with it last night.
I remember waiting on you to come around the mountain when I was a kid. It would have been a while since I had seen you. The summers there were always so beautiful and life was flourishing everywhere. The sounds of the wind and insects would never get old. I listened very distinctly tuning out that perfect noise to try and hone in on the sound of your vehicle winding around the mountain. I was just so impatient I couldn't take it. I tried distracting myself but nothing worked. All I wanted was to see you, right there at that instant... I knew you were coming. When you pulled up I ran to you and hugged you. Then, as if that wasn't enough, you would have reached down to hand me a surprise...usually x men cards or some really awesome comics. Truth is I never really needed those. I already had everything I wanted right there in that moment. Even when I was younger, I will never forget the times you took me into work and I got to be around all of the aircraft's and fly with you in the simulators. We would go to airshows just the two of us, and I loved when the Blue Angels flew. I had the honor of wearing your warm flight jacket. God how I loved that. Maybe I was showing off. You thought I looked to them as hero's. Looking back, I know my hero was standing right there beside of me and it was you I was trying to show off. I love you so much Mom. RIP.

It was so delightful to see Carol, lovely  at all ages; thank you!.

When I think of Carol, one trait that immediately comes to mind is her strength.  She was a caretaker and her concerns and attention were focused on the ones she loved and cared for, and not so much on herself. Carol and I shared a devotion and dedication to elderly parents and try as I did, my efforts seemed to pale in comparison to hers at trying to ease the vagaries of their old age. We all know how central Shannon was to her life and her thoughts and how much she loved him. We are all going to miss her thoughtfulness, her love of flowers, her displays of love and her dedication.

So pleased to see these pictures of sweet Carol - a very pretty lady, beautiful nature pictures, and pictures of her beloved mountain place, including Shan, her Mom and brother.  She and I shared a love of animals, especially ours and Shan's Rottweilers, Butch and Baby!  We had many "dog" conversations, including tiny Lola and her cast.  I am very sad to lose a friendly neighbor and animal lover.

Carol was a sweet person and her own person, never a follower of the crowd, something I really liked about her. Our offices were adjacent and when she found a great new iphone or ipad app she would excitedly share it with me and I would do the same in return.  I miss her already.

Carol, all these years of memories that you left behind for us will remind us that despite everything, goodness has existed and will exist in this world.

I first met Carol when we both worked for CSC - as her daddy had before her. She was a kind and thoughtful person, and I was so pleased when our paths crossed again and we had the opportunity to work together again. We shall miss her.

I have missed Carol's sweet smile.  What a generous, heart she had!  Ah, the discussions about her wonderful nature photos and the mountains.  I was blessed to know her.

The pictures reminded me of how much Carol loved nature and animals.  She was so much fun when she found a new toy, like the Vita-mix or a new product, like the locally grown coffee, and was always willing to share.  It's hard to believe she is no longer with us, but we all have wonderful memories to keep her close.

Carol, thanks for being my friend! I'll miss you.

I light this candle to remember my mother in law, who was loved by many and will be forgotten by no one.

Carol, the world was a better place because of you. You will be missed dearly, my friend.

Carol and I shared a love for the mountains of North Carolina.  It was a place where she said she always felt peaceful and content.  I like to think that she is there now.  I will miss her very much.

Having known Carol has certainly been a pleasure. Her simple and caring ways will always be remembered.  I will miss her.  REST IN PERFECT PEACE.

My thoughts and prayers are with Carol's family during this difficult time. I will miss our discussions about Franklin and our latest tech toys. She will be missed by many people.

The passing of Carol is a great loss.  I knew her to be a very caring, thoughful and loving person. May she rest in peace.
