Beverly was born to the late Roland Hughes Hayes and Audrey Hinton Hayes on February 26, 1949 in Raleigh, NC. She graduated from Needham Broughton High School in 1967 and received her Associates degree from Peace College. She also received her BA degree in History from NC State University in 1971.
Beverly is survived by her husband Richard Terry Allen, her daughter Jennifer Allen Rose and son-in-law David, and her son Richard Tyler Allen and daughter-in-law Amanda. She is also survived by four grandchildren that she dearly loved. Katelyn Elizabeth Rose, Christopher Ryan Rose, Isabel Darlene Allen and Evelyn Marie Allen.
Beverly and Terry first met at her 16th birthday party, but did not start dating until a year and a half later. When she transferred to NC State, she was chosen to be the Sweetheart of Terry’s Sigma Pi Fraternity. Once Terry finished his active-duty training with the Marine Reserves, they were married on August 22, 1970.
After she graduated, Beverly applied her degree and went to work with the NC Department of Cultural Resources as an Archivist. There she was responsible for arranging original historical records obtained from North Carolina County Courthouses, determining which were of historical significance and disposing those of no archival value. After raising their children, she went to work with the North Carolina General Assembly in the Office of the Senate Principal Clerk.
Beverly loved spending time at their place in Indian Beach, NC. The only thing that made her happier was being able to spend time with her children and grandchildren at the beach.
