Barbara Ann Martin Reilly passed away peacefully in her sleep, while in the care of hospice at the age of 67 on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. Barbara was lovingly known as Barb by her husband and family. She was also known as " mom " and "memaw" by her children and grandchild. Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family.
Barbara was born on October 9, 1953 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Barbara grew up with a large family, which made her the giving and sharing woman she was. Barbara met the love of her life, Norman, at the age of 17 at a wedding. Their love was such a true connection, that they married 13 months later on September 9, 1972. During their life together they experienced many new cultures and living environments from Quebec Canada to North Carolina and Massachusetts in the United States. Barbara and Norman would go on great adventures all across Canada, the United States, Mexico, Bermuda, Trinidad, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and Jamaica. During their adventures Barbara and Norman began to grow their loving family with their daughter, Sabrina, and son, Ryan. In 2013 Barbara and Norman were blessed with a grandson, Jackson.
Barbara was the loving mother that stayed home with her children until they were teenagers, then she began a new adventure and began working again. She started as a secretary at Wake county mental health then later worked in customer service at Oxford University Press. All those who worked with Barbara would say she is a giving, loving and hard-working woman. Barbara also thoroughly enjoyed doing projects for herself and others. Barbara enjoyed gifting and beautifying her home with her artwork, such as cross stitching, painting pottery, making glass pieces, doing diamond art pictures and so much more. Barbara would always give a hand when her husband and children were working on projects, always ensuring to be a part of what was going on, so to lend a helping hand. She would often push Norm out from under the car hood so as to be more involved, which was comical. Barbara may have been small in stature but she was always a force to be reckoned with when it comes to her family.
Barbara was survived by her loving husband, Norman. Barbara was also survived by her daughter, Sabrina, and her life partner, Larie, her son, Ryan, and his wife, Rebekah, and grandson, Jackson. Barbara also left behind her mother-in-law, June. Others that Barbara has left behind are her sisters, brothers, nieces, and great nieces and nephews. Barbara's love for her family, immediate and extended, was and will always be felt and missed.
A celebration of life will be held in Barbara's honor from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Brown and Wynne Funeral Home. Which is located at 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary NC, 27511.
In order for her Canadian family and friends to join in a celebration of life, a second celebration will be held in Alexandra, Ontario, on October 11, Monday at the Bonnie Glen pavilion Hall from 3:00 to 11:00 PM. This is open to all friends knowing Barbara, however, people joining for dinner should notify the family to ensure the correct amount of food will be provided.
